Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is experiencing his worst start to a La Liga campaign since signing for Los Blancos eight years ago, while FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi is off to his best start.

The Portuguese was unable to get his name on the scoresheet against Espanyol on Sunday night, when Real won 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Isco.
According to Marca, this is Ronaldo's worst ever start to a league season in Spain, with the 32-year-old now having failed to score in 270 minutes of La Liga football.
The forward's previous worst start came in the 2010/11 campaign, when he struck his first league goal of the campaign after 255 minutes. Last season, it took the Portugal captain just six minutes to get off the mark.
Conversely, Messi has begun this La Liga season better than any other campaign before, scoring 11 league goals in just seven matches.
The Argentine's previous best start came in the 2011/12 campaign, when he found the back of the net 10 times in seven appearances.
