The Portuguese was unable to get his name on the scoresheet against Espanyol on Sunday night, when Real won 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Isco.

According to Marca, this is Ronaldo's worst ever start to a league season in Spain, with the 32-year-old now having failed to score in 270 minutes of La Liga football.

The forward's previous worst start came in the 2010/11 campaign, when he struck his first league goal of the campaign after 255 minutes. Last season, it took the Portugal captain just six minutes to get off the mark.

Conversely, Messi has begun this La Liga season better than any other campaign before, scoring 11 league goals in just seven matches.

Biggest Release Clauses Of Real Madrid Revealed

The Argentine's previous best start came in the 2011/12 campaign, when he found the back of the net 10 times in seven appearances.

Who do you think will end up as La Liga's top scorer this season? Let us know in the comments section below.

Messi is clearly competing with the old madala these days. Let him get his last sniff at the ballon'dor before Messi does a clean sweep from then on. I feel sorry for his deluded fans.

I wud rather have a player score 6 vital goals that wins the league or competition than a player that scores 25 goals and win nothing. Its not how you start but how you finish so lets wait and see.

now he has this andorra team to go kill and run to media to vent his anger. i saw him yesterday not celebrating his team mate goal. what i like with this new boys is that they are not scared to show madala the middle finger. they don't want to be like benzema who works so hard for penaldo.

i have been looking at 2017 stats , i just don't understand why people think he should win an individual accolade while performance wise, some players were better than him.

even last year, his performance was below part just to storm out for few months and win applause . i still maintain that marcelo and ramos were the best players for that blancows. i don't watch goals i watch the game of football.
