Cristiano Ronaldo Equals Africa's All-Time Record Scorer, Climbs To 4th Worldwide

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has equalled Africa's best ever goalscorer's record, but there are still three players with more national team goals than he has.

Click through the mini-gallery to see the six best international goalscorers ever.

After recently overtaking Brazil legend Pele, who scored 78 goals for the Selecao, in the international goalscorers chart, Ronaldo has now equalled Zambia's Godfrey Chitalu's tally.

The Portuguese came off the bench in his side's 2-0 win over Andorra on Saturday to score the opener in the second half.

The goal took Ronaldo's overall record for Portugal to 79 strikes, as many as Africa's all-time record scorer Chitalu scored for Zambia between 1968 and 1980.

Next in Ronaldo's record hunt to be the top international goalscorer in history is Japanese forward Kunishige Kamamoto, who netted 80 goals in 84 caps between 1964 and 1977, as pointed out by FourFourTwo.

Real Madrid and Hungary legend Ferenc Puskas scored five more goals than the Portuguese, having scored 84 times in 85 appearances between 1945 and 1956.

Ronaldo would still need another 30 goals for Portugal to become the all-time international record goalscorer after Iran's Ali Daei netted this amount in 149 caps between 1993 and 2006.

Do you think Ronaldo can still become the leading all-time record international scorer? Have your say in the comments section below.

The Iranian guys opposition is obviously way more inferiror than what CR7 has faced. Him netting maybe 90 and becoming second would certainly equate the 149 scored by the Iranian.
