The 32-year-old won the prestigious award for the second consecutive year, becoming the first player to lift it three times in the process – he first won it in 2013/14.
The Portuguese has now won one more than FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi, who won the accolade in 2010/11 and 2014/15.
After receiving the award, the Los Blancos star said that he was honoured to win the trophy back-to-back and thanked his coaches and teammates.
"I'm so glad to be here, and honoured to win this trophy again," Ronaldo said, according to UEFA.com.
"Thank you to my teammates and congratulations to them too. I'm so blessed – thanks also to the supporters of Real Madrid, and everyone who helped me to achieve this trophy."
The UEFA Men's Player of the Year award is based on players' performances during a season for club and country.
In the poll, Ronaldo received 482 votes, with Messi getting 141 and Buffon ending on 109.
