It has been claimed that the Brazilian is open to a move to France, although contrary reports suggested that Neymar and his team have rubbished the rumours.
However, history shows that many top players have left Barca when they were key figures in the side, including Luis Figo, who controversially joined rivals Real Madrid in 2000. The Portuguese had been at the Blaugrana for five years prior to his exit, during which time he won seven trophies.
Deco and Ronaldinho both left the Catalan giants in 2008, despite being influential players in the side in the years prior to Pep Guardiola's appointment to the Camp Nou hot seat. The Spaniard bravely decided to let the players leave that year as he felt they were not in the appropriate shape to help take the club forward.
African superstar Samuel Eto'o left the next season, in a deal that saw Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic join Barca. The Cameroonian went on to achieve immediate success with Inter Milan, while Ibrahimovic was considered a flop signing in Spain.
Victor Valdes was another player who left at perhaps an expected time, when the club announced they would not be renewing his contract in 2014. Cesc Fabregas left at the same time as the goalkeeper, after spending three years in his boyhood club's senior side.
The most recent players mentioned by Marca were Dani Alves and Claudio Bravo, who both departed the Catalan giants in 2016.
