Philippe Coutinho Breaks Silence Over Failed FC Barcelona Move
Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho has broken his silence after his move to FC Barcelona in the latest transfer window failed to materialise.
The Brazil international, who reportedly handed in a transfer request at his Merseyside club last month after hearing that the Blaugrana were interested in signing him, has now spoken about the situation that unfolded.
"What happened is that I received an offer, and in life sometimes you're interested, and sometimes you're not, but in my case, as everyone knows, I was interested and so was my family," Coutinho told ESPN Brasil.
"It was a difficult month for me, but now it's all over, and I must focus on having a good season, helping my team, thinking about Liverpool and the national team.
"I've always respected Liverpool, the fans, the players and their board members.
"It's a great honour to receive an offer from a great club, but so is being here. Liverpool is a great club."
The 25-year-old returned to the Reds' starting line-up on Saturday, when Liverpool drew 1-1 with Burnley at Anfield.
