Lionel Messi To Block FC Barcelona From Selling This Player?
Superstar Lionel Messi could reportedly attempt to block FC Barcelona from selling this player.
It is widely believed that Javier Mascherano could be released the Catalan club – something Messi reportedly does not want to see happen.
According to Diario Gol, the 30-year-old believes Mascherano still has a lot to offer, despite his countryman playing fewer minutes last season than ever before at the club.
The reports claimed that Messi considers his compatriot a good back-up to Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique, who are likely to be the main centre-back pairing next season.
Barca are reportedly chasing several players ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, with Mascherano believed to be on the list of stars who could potentially leave the club.
The former Liverpool player has been linked with a transfer to Italian giants Juventus, the same team Dani Alves joined after leaving the Blaugrana at the beginning of the 2016/17 season.
The Brazilian had an excellent campaign with the Bianconeri, while his absence from the fullback position at Barca is still being felt.
Mascherano has played 321 matches for Barca since his arrival at the Camp Nou in 2010, winning 17 trophies along the way.
