Reports: Gerard Pique & Sergio Ramos' Relationship Has Broken Down
Reports coming out of Spain state that Gerard Pique's relationship with national team captain Sergio Ramos has apparently broken down.
According to Spanish publication AS, the two central defenders are not talking to each other as a result of the FC Barcelona stalwart's recent comments on the political situation around Catalonia's push for independence.
The 30-year-old Catalan defender was jeered and whistled at by a section of supporters during Spain's open training session on Monday, and the scenes were so unpleasant that the team's management decided to call practice off after just 23 minutes.
Last week, Ramos criticised his international teammate for speaking out in favour of Catalonia's controversial planned referendum on independence, and with Pique continuing to voice his views after Sunday's violent scenes in Barcelona, a major rift has seemingly developed between the two players.
It has been reported that the atmosphere in the Spanish team is "suffocating", and there are rumours that Pique is seriously considering his future with the national side.
The two defenders, when representing Barcelona and Real Madrid, have often had a go at each other in the past, but always managed to patch things up when representing their country... until now.
