Reports: Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City On The Verge Of Sealing Third Signing
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of sealing their third signing of the season.
According to The Sun, the Citizens are close to wrapping up a deal that will see Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy move to the Etihad Stadium.
The 22-year-old Frenchman has not travelled with his Ligue 1 side to Switzerland where they holding their pre-season camp.
Guardiola is keen to get this deal done and dusted as soon as possible after missing out on Dani Alves and allowing Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta all to leave for free.
Mendy will reportedly cost the English side around £40 million (R683 million) and this deal is expected to be done before next.
The report also suggests that the Monaco star will sign a four-year deal worth £100 000-a-week (R1.7 million) to join the club.
The Frenchman has been Guardiola's priority for months after impressing in Monaco’s brilliant Ligue 1 campaign and the club’s run to the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Mendy made 39 appearances for the French champions last season and scored one goal in all competitions.
