Reports: Midfielder Tells FC Barcelona He Wants To Leave
An FC Barcelona midfielder has reportedly told the Spanish giants he would like leave before the close of the transfer window.
According to English publication Manchester Evening News, Portugal international Andre Gomes is unhappy at the Catalan club and wants out.
The past 12 months have not been easy for Gomes – so much so that he was voted the Worst La Liga Signing of the 2016/17 Season by readers of Spanish newspaper Marca.
The wantaway star has often been booed by the Camp Nou crowd, and with the Blaugrana consistently being linked with midfielders such as Nice star Jean Michael Seri, among others, he apparently feels it may be the right time to go.
There has been speculation that Manchester United and Juventus are interested in the 24-year-old, but neither has put in a formal bid for him.
The Serie A side have sent representatives to Barcelona to try and negotiate a deal, but Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is said to be quietly confident of landing the player as they share the same agent, Jorge Mendes.
Since his £30 million (R508 million) arrival from Valencia, Gomes has made 30 La Liga appearances for the Blaugrana, scoring three goals along the way.
