Reports: Lionel Messi Wants This Player To Replace Neymar At FC Barcelona
News broke on Tuesday evening that Neymar had accepted an offer to join Paris Saint-Germain. Here is who Lionel Messi would reportedly like to see as the Brazilian's replacement if he does leave the Camp Nou.
The French giants reportedly activated Neymar's €222 million (R3.3 billion) buyout clause and are determined to lure him away from Spain.
Brazilian journalist Marcelo Bechler, who works for Esporte Interactivo, suggested on Tuesday that Neymar had agreed personal terms with PSG.
However, ESPN have since dismissed the report, saying a source close to the French club suggested a deal is closer than ever but not yet agreed.
Neymar reportedly wants to step out from under Messi's shadow, and the Argentine has apparently already told club president Josep Maria Bartomeu who he wants his teammate to be replaced by.
According to Don Balon, Messi wants Barca to sign his countryman Paulo Dybala if the Brazilian does leave the club.
The Blaugrana would receive large parts of Neymar's €222 million release clause, with a margin going to Santos as part of a reported sell-on clause, and could invest the money in the Juventus forward.
PSG midfielder Marco Verratti is another player Barca could go for if they sell Neymar to Les Parisiens.
