Reports: Kylian Mbappe Feels Betrayed By Monaco
Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe reportedly feels betrayed by 2016/17 Ligue 1 champions Monaco, and is ready to leave the club as a result.
According to the Daily Mirror, the 18-year-old striker is not prepared to stay at the club for one more season and wants to leave as soon as possible.
The France international is said to be upset that his side has allowed so many of its star players to leave in this transfer window.
The report claimed Mbappe was promised that the team would remain competitive for the upcoming season, and that they would only allow only one or two of their star players leave.
Monaco have already sold three players who were crucial to their success last season – Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy have both joined Manchester City, while Tiemoue Bakayoko has signed for Chelsea.
Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent weeks, but the player was willing to put that move on hold if the club kept to their word.
It has been said that the Spanish giants are willing to offer Monaco £160 million (R2.7 billion) for the starlet, a move that now seems on the cards with this latest twist.
The French side's vice prresident, Vadim Vasilyev, has confirmed that the club in negotiations over an extension with the player.
"We haven't reached an agreement with any club for Mbappe," Vasilyev told the BBC.
"We are negotiating to extend his contract but you mustn't push the player too hard. We must allow him to take his time, not rush things.
"There is too much media pressure. I remind you, he's only 18."
Mbappe made 44 appearances for his Ligue 1 club last season, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.
