Reports: Jose Mourinho Willing To Break Transfer Record For This Star Forward
Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Manchester United to break the world transfer record for a certain striker.
According to the Daily Mirror, the former Chelsea manager is willing to pay up to £100 million (R1.6 billion) for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane – which would smash Paul Pogba's world record transfer fee.
The Red Devils have been linked with Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo, but Mourinho is said to be keen on landing the England international instead.
Morata is believed to be fed up with the lack of game time he has received since his return to the Spanish capital, while the 32-year-old Portuguese star recently vowed to quit Real after being accused of tax fraud, and was linked with a return to Old Trafford as a result.
However, Mourinho has now apparently turned his attention to Spurs' Kane, who has had three impressive seasons in a row.
The Lilywhites have said they will not listen to any offers for their star man, but the Red Devils boss believes a bid of about £100 million (R1.6 billion) may be too tempting to turn down.
The former Real Madrid manager is said to be a huge fan of Kane's, and apparently feels United should pay whatever it takes to secure his signature.
Kane made 38 appearances for Tottenham last season, scoring 35 goals and assisting seven further strikes in all competitions.
