Reports: FC Barcelona Make €80m Bid For Premier League Star
Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reportedly made an €80 million (R1.2 billion) bid for one of the Premier League's brightest stars.
According to the Daily Mail, the Catalan club has put in an offer for Brazil and Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
The 25-year-old has been identified as a possible replacement for the ageing Andres Iniesta, who is expected to leave the Camp Nou at the end of the coming season.
Coutinho recently signed a new deal with the Reds, which sees him contracted to the Anfield club until 2022.
It is said that Liverpool have already rejected the offer from the Blaugrana, and manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed this when he was asked if a bid had been made.
"That's an interesting question because you know my answer before,” the German tactician told Sky Sports.
"I have nothing to say about this, I'm sorry but obviously these stories are without my saying, so why should I disturb this process?
"Do whatever you want with this news, I am not interested. But what I can say, keeping the group together would make sense."
Klopp was then pushed for a more concrete answer on whether Coutinho was definitely not for sale this season.
"Yes, that's what you can say, but that's not since this morning or yesterday, I'm not sure it was different at any time," he added.
Coutinho has made 181 appearances for Liverpool since joining them from Inter Milan in 2013, scoring 42 goals in all competitions.
