Reports: Barcelona Boss Would Rather Sign This Star Than Philippe Coutinho
FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde is apparently not keen to splash the cash on Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho as he would reportedly rather bring in a cheaper alternative.
According to Don Balon, the new Blaugrana boss would prefer to sign former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho instead.
The former Athletic Bilbao coach apparently feels that the Guangzhou Evergrande player would be a better fit for his team than the Merseyside star.
Paulinho has revived his career while in China, after being considered a flop during his stint in the Premier League with Spurs.
Coutinho has been widely tipped as a replacement for Neymar, who officially left the Blaugrana for Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday.
Barcelona also know they will have a real battle on their hands if they want to pursue the Reds star, who Liverpool have insisted is not for sale.
The Spanish club will need to act quickly if they are to secure a replacement for Neymar as the La Liga campaign starts on 18 August.
