According to BBC Sport, the London outfit are closing in on a deal for Olympique Lyon's star striker, Alexandre Lacazette.

It is believed that Arsenal had a bid rejected for the striker earlier this week, but talks have reportedly continued and are progressing well.

The proposed move for the 26-year-old is expected to be a club-record fee, surpassing the £42.4m the Gunners paid Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil.

Lyon recently acquired the services of strikers, Bertrand Traore and Mariano from Chelsea and Real Madrid respectively, which could pave the way for Lacazette's departure.

The France international was superb for Lyon last season, as he netted 37 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions.

Great! Been waiting for such news since 2 season's ago, when the rumors started. I think he is a great chance converter, which is what we need for our huge chance creation skill. But, im not sure of the time he will get to play. I hope he will break the inconsistency we have with a striker, since RVP left and its going to be tough with Giroud, Welbz and Perez. Wenger must decide early in the season who will be the main guy, IF THIS TRANSFER IS DONE!
