The Catalan giants are still keen on landing Coutinho before the window closes, and are reportedly prepared to pay up to €160 million (R2.5 billion)
However, Liverpool's stance that the Brazilian is not for sale has reportedly not changed, as Spanish football expert Guillem Balague explained.
Barca's sporting director Robert Fernandez confirmed on Monday that the club is still working on deals, and want to bring in up to two players.
"We are negotiating with certain players about joining," he said at Ousmane Dembele's unveiling, as quoted by ESPN.
"We need things sorted quickly as there are not many days left of the transfer window. We hope things progress well and that we are able to present another player this month.
"We're working on a number of possibilities. We have to wait. We know the type of player we want and the profile we need to improve the team, and we will push until the last possible moment.
"My intention is that one more player comes in and, if it's possible, even two."
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have drawn up a shortlist of three alternatives in case the club fails to get Coutinho.
The Spanish publication named AS Monaco's Thomas Lemar, Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann and Juventus forward Paulo Dybala as the players said to be on the list.
However, Lemar is reportedly being chased by Liverpool, while the other two seem unlikely to leave their clubs in this window, which means Barcelona could end up signing none of their preferred targets.
