Real Madrid's First Signing Revealed?
It appears the announcement of Real Madrid's first signing ahead of the 2017/18 campaign is imminent, with the player already chatting about the move.
Atletico Madrid left back Theo Hernandez impressed while on loan at Alaves last season, and Los Blancos have now reportedly triggered the €24 million (R355 million) release clause in his contract with the Rojiblancos, making him one of very few players who have switched allegiances between the two Madrid-based giants.
While the transfer has not yet been officially confirmed, the 19-year-old spoke openly about the move during a football camp for children he is hosting in Los Angeles, US.
Although he did not directly say he will join Real, he admitted he has been dreaming of playing for them since he was little, and is "looking forward to playing alongside the best players in the world", according to ESPN.
"I am very excited about next season, looking forward to playing alongside the best players in the world," he said.
"The only thing I must do is to keep working hard and keep battling."
Real president Florentino Perez has confirmed the clubs are in talks, and that Hernandez's deal has not yet been finalised.
"We are talking with Atletico and I believe we will reach an agreement," he said.
Hernandez made 38 appearances for loan club Alaves last season, scoring twice and assisting another four goals.
