Premier League Flop: FC Barcelona Are Interested In Me
A former Premier League flop now playing in China has claimed that FC Barcelona have made contact with his representatives.
Brazil midfielder Paulinho joined Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth £17 million (R278 million) in 2013, but was offloaded to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande just two years later for £9.9 million (R162 million) after stuggling to impress in the English top flight.
The 28-year-old has now claimed that the Catalan giants have made him an offer, but also confirmed there is no agreement between the two clubs as yet.
"There was contact with my representative and there was an offer," Paulinho told Globo Esporte.
"I'm very happy with my life and career at the moment and it's difficult to make a decision.
"I have to weigh up many things before making a decision, first of all, my wife, plus I'm living very well in China.
"We like the place, the people, fighting for the league title, the Asian Champions League.
"I'm happy that a great team like Barcelona are interested in me, it's something that's priceless.
"I don't have a deadline to respond to them, I speak to my agent every day but Barca and my club would have to reach an agreement."
Since moving to China, Paulinho has won two Chinese Super League titles and the AFC Champions League under the guidance for former Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.
