Aubameyang Offered To Real On Deadline Day?
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Offered To Real Madrid On Deadline Day?
African superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could reportedly still complete a surprise last-minute switch to Real Madrid.
The Gabon striker, who flirted with a move away from Borussia Dortmund throughout the window, has never hidden his affection for Los Blancos, having previously revealed that he had promised his grandfather he would play for the Spanish giants one day.
According to Diario Gol, the striker has made one final attempt to offer his services to the Spanish giants.
However, despite club president Florentino Perez being keen on the 2015 CAF African Player of the Year, La Liga expert Graham Hunter has questioned whether a deal could be on the cards.
"For so long, (Aubameyang) was a high priority for the president," Hunter told talkSPORT.
"It would be surprising if Aubameyang was to be done by (Friday).
"But there was a stage, six months ago, when it looked like Florentino Perez was his backer.
"Zidane originally put the stops to it because he wasn't his kind of player. They went all out for Mbappe and Aubameyang dropped off the list.
"But Mbappe is now definitely going to join PSG – originally on loan with a guaranteed buy next summer.
"Mbappe was in 2012 visiting Madrid, was shown round by Zidane and introduced to Cristiano Ronaldo. There were many meetings between Mbappe's father and Zidane.
"Until very recently, it looked as though Real would get Mbappe and Aubameyang dropped off the list for that reason."
Meanwhile, AC Milan director Massimiliano Mirabelli has insisted the 28-year-old wanted to join the Rossoneri in the latest window, but Borussia Dortmund did not want to sell their superstar.
Aubameyang scored 40 goals in 46 games last season, claiming the Bundesliga golden boot in the process, and has begun the new campaign with six strikes in just four matches across all competitions.
