Official: Real Madrid Announce First Signing
Real Madrid have officially announced their first signing, who joins the club from rivals Atletico Madrid, of the transfer window, and also confirmed their next departure.
Left back Theo Hernandez has officially joined Los Blancos from their cross-town rivals Atletico.
"Real Madrid C.F. and Atletico de Madrid have agreed the transfer of the player Theo Hernandez, who will be contracted to the club for the next six seasons," a statement on the club's official website read.
"The player will be presented next Monday, 10 July, at 7:30pm, in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, after undergoing the corresponding medical examination.
"Later, Theo Hernandez will step out on to the pitch at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time in the Real Madrid shirt and will speak to the media in the press room."
The 19-year-old will replace Fabio Coentrao as the back-up left back at Los Blancos to add more competition for Marcelo. Earlier on Wednesday, the club also announced that the Portuguese fullback will join Sporting Lisbon on loan.
Hernandez impressed on loan at Alaves last season, making 38 appearances, during which he scored two goals and assisted another four strikes.
