Arsene Wenger On Why Paris Saint-Germain Are Targeting Neymar
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given his opinion on why Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain are targeting FC Barcelona superstar Neymar.
The French club are reportedly willing to activate the Brazilian's €222 million (R3.3 billion) release clause in the coming weeks, despite the Blaugrana claiming he is not for sale.
Wenger believes that PSG's interest in Neymar has only come about because the Ligue 1 giants could not convince Chile international Alexis Sanchez to join them.
"Paris Saint-Germain cannot get Sanchez so they go for Neymar," Wenger said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"I read L'Equipe in the last three or four days. It has moved from Sanchez to Neymar. Today they speak about Neymar, three days ago they speak about Alexis. They need as well, like you (reporters), subjects.
"My mind has been made up for a while now. I think I've made it clear a few times that he is not for sale, and this is my stance."
Sanchez is entering the final year of his contract with the Gunners, and has been linked with a move away from Arsenal in this window.
