Monaco star Thomas Lemar has commented on the reported £92 million (R1.53 billion) transfer to Arsenal that failed to materialise on deadline day.

On the last day of the window, the Gunners apparently scrambled to get the deal over the line, but it broke down during the final hours.

The 21-year-old, who played against the Netherlands in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier for France on Thursday night, said he was delighted to hear that he would be returning Stade Louis II.

"I am a player of Monaco, I am very happy there," Lemar told Canal+.

"Now I'm going to make a good season with my club, to try to progress and move forward in my career with Monaco.

"I prepared for this game as usual. I do not lose my head, even if there are rumours. I was focused on my game, that's all that mattered to me."

Monaco had a difficult transfer window as they lost the services of Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
