Romelu Lukaku Explains Paul Pogba's Role In Manchester United Transfer
Belgium international Romelu Lukaku has explained the role superstar Paul Pogba played in his move to Manchester United.
The 24-year-old's transfer from Everton to the Red Devils was announced by the Manchester club on Saturday, days after reports claimed that United and the Toffees had come to an agreement over a deal.
Lukaku, who is known to be close friends with Pogba, has now revealed that the Frenchman's positive comments about United interested him, which eventually led to him signing for the club.
"I've been talking to Pogba for about seven or eight years. And now he's living in Manchester," he told ESPN.
"I live in Manchester. He lives like down the road from where I live, so we're together on a daily basis.
"He was explaining to me how it went at the club, and it triggered something in my head. When the opportunity came, I didn't have to think twice. I'm really excited.
"I think they're all top players, a good group of guys that is hungry to win trophies.
"To play in front of those fans, everything is set there to perform. But, you know, I have to work harder than I'm doing now. I know the road is still far, but I'm willing to go on that path and grab the opportunity that I get."
Lukaku has scored 85 Premier League goals in his relatively young career, and has also represented Belgium on 60 occasions, finding the back of the net 23 times along the way.
