Reports: Why Cristiano Ronaldo Is Desperate To Return To La Liga Action
Reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is desperate to return to La Liga action for a specific reason.
The 32-year-old is expected to return to Spanish giants' starting line-up against Real Betis on Wednesday after serving a five-match suspension for pushing referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
According to Spanish publication Don Balon, the Portuguese forward is desperate to return the pitch because he is looking to stop arch-rival Lionel Messi from winning this season's Golden Boot.
The Argentine has got his campaign off to a flying start, having scored five goals in the Blaugrana's opening four league fixtures.
Ronaldo has shown no signs of rustiness despite having not played a single minute of football in La Liga this season, however – he scored twice in the UEFA Champions League against APOEL last Wednesday.
The former Manchester United winger is believed to be on track to lift his fifth Ballon d'Or title later this year, and would equal Messi's record tally of five in doing so.
