Reports: Manchester United To Make Fresh R1.58bn Bid For French Star
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will reportedly put in a R1.58 billion bid for a French superstar next season.
According to ESPN, the Red Devils will once again approach La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid for the services of their striker Antoine Griezmann.
The 26-year-old was linked with a move to the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League champions earlier during the transfer window, but talks ended when the France international’s current club got handed a transfer ban by FIFA.
With the ban being lifted in January and Atletico re-signing Diego Costa from Chelsea, Mourinho feels that this is the perfect opportunity to land his No.1 transfer target.
Griezmann recently signed a one-year extension on his current contract but release clause stayed at £87.8 million (R1.57 billion), which the English side is apparently willing to pay.
The Frenchman made five appearances for his La Liga side this season, scoring two goals and assisting in one more.
