Reports: Jose Mourinho To Make Sensational Move For Barcelona Superstar
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will reportedly target an FC Barcelona superstar ahead of the next campaign.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with Cristiano Ronaldo in recent weeks, but according to Diario Gol, Mourinho feels Neymar would be a better signing for his team.
The report claimed that the manager has made his desire to snatch up the Brazilian, in a deal that could cost the English giants up to £177 million (R2.9 billion), clear to United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
The Portuguese tactician reportedly feels Neymar's age makes him a more sensible target than Ronaldo – he is seven younger than the Portugal captain.
The Brazilian has been on United's radar before, and the player even admitted last season that he had been in contact with the club over a potential move.
Neymar is considered by many to be Messi's natural successor at Barca, although the prospect of playing in the Premier League could excite the 25-year-old.
The Selecao talisman scored 20 goals and assisted a further 27 strikes in 45 matches for the Blaugrana last season.
