Paul Pogba Reveals Why He Left Manchester United & Who Told Him He Would Return
France superstar Paul Pogba has revealed why he left Manchester United in 2012, and who told him he would one day return to the Old Trafford club.
The midfielder returned to United at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, rejoining them from Juventus for a world record fee of €105 million (R1.56 billion).
The 24-year-old has now explained that he left the Red Devils to go in search of regular game time, but felt a return was always possible.
"I left Manchester to play. That's all I wanted. Even though I was young, I felt I could play now and I didn't want to wait," Pogba said in an interview with Esquire magazine.
"So if it wasn't with Manchester, it would be with someone else. But, in my mind, I knew: 'It's not finished, I might come back'.
"My mum told me this: 'You'll come back one day'."
The Frenchman made 51 appearances for the Red Devils last season, scoring nine goals and assisting six further strikes in all competitions.
