In-Form Morata Bags Hat-Trick To Lead Chelsea Past Stoke

English Premier League Report: Stoke City v Chelsea 23 September 2017

By SL International - Sep 23, 2017 05:57 PM

English Premier League

Result: Stoke City 0-4 Chelsea

Date: 23 September 2017

Venue: Bet365 Stadium

Alvaro Morata continued his fine start to life in the Premier league as he netted a hat-trick to help Chelsea claim a 4-0 win over Stoke City.

The former Real Madrid striker returned to the starting line-up, while Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi dropped to the bench.

Antonio Conte's charges went ahead in the second minute of the match through Alvaro Morata from the edge of the box following an assist from Cesar Azpilicueta.

The Potters showed signs of coming back around the 20 minutes mark with Xherdan Shaqiri coming close but was denied by Thibaut Courtois.

However, Pedro Rodriguez extended the lead to 2-0 for the Blues in the 30th minute with a right footed strike from outside the box.

Mame Biram Diouf could have pulled a goal back for Mark Hughes' side with five minutes before the halftime break but his shot from the centre of the box missed agonisingly wide.

Diouf had another chance in the 58th minute but missed on the right side of the six yard box with the net gaping.

Morata scored his second goal of the match to make it 3-0 in the 76th minute with a shot inside the six-yard box following an assist from Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Morata completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute with a low close finish inside the box towards the bottom right corner, 4-0.

The Blues passed the ball around in the closing minutes to round off a convincing win.

What was clear about the 'penalties'? There was nothing clear about either. West Ham should focus on playing until the whistle blows rather than diving about searching for dreams. Carroll is a big cow, had he gone for a headed goal rather than a penalty he may well have scored. WHU got exactly what they deserved.

Morata struck three times to take his Premier League tally to six goals in as many matches this season, and travelling Chelsea fans paid tribute to their new hero by singing: "Alvaro, Alvaro, he comes from sunny Spain, he's better than Harry Kane." [ESPN FC]

I'm happy for Morata. He's gonna be one of the best strikers in the EPL.

Letting go of morata and James was another huge mistake Perez did, just like the exits of Ozil and Di Maria
