South African-born midfielder Andrew Surman was on target to help Bournemouth claim a 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday evening.
After a quiet start, Brighton carved out a chance in the 10th minute Anthony Knockart picked out Pascal Grob, who fired just wide of the upright.
Bournemouth had to wait for their first chance in the 22nd minute as Marc Pugh slotted from close range, following a cross from Charlie Daniels.
Eddie Howes' charges enjoyed most of the possession in the first half, but they were unable to make it count as the likes of Jermaine Defoe and Joshua King fired blanks.
The visitors nearly went ahead five minutes into the second half when Duffy's header was cleared off the line, before Stephens' hit the upright moments later.
However, Brighton were not to be denied in the 55th minute when Solly March rose well to head home Pascal Grob's cross.
Bournemouth leveled matters 10 minutes later as Surman collected a fine pass form Jordon Ibe, before showing composure to slot into the bottom corner.
The hosts then took the lead in the 73rd minute when Ibe played in Defoe, who rifled the ball past Matt Ryan.
Brighton pushed for a winner in the final 15 minutes of the second half, but they were unable carve out another chance as Bournemouth claimed their first win of the season.
