African Bad Boy Takes Fresh Swipe At Steven Gerrard
A former African Footballer of the Year has launched a fresh attack on former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
El Hadji Diouf, who played for the Anfield club between 2002 and 2005, has a longstanding feud with his former club captain ever since leaving Merseyside.
The former Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers forward's latest attack on Gerrard seemed a bit more light-hearted, though, explaining that while the former England captain was a good player at the time, he does not think Gerrard was "bigger" than he was in his day.
"I have no problem with him," the retired Senegal international told the BBC.
"Gerrard is a strong character and I am a strong character, 'Stevie G' was a very good player, people like him in Liverpool but he never did anything for his country.
"I am Mr El Hadji Diouf, Mr Senegal, but he is Mr Liverpool and Senegal is bigger than Liverpool and he has to know that."
Diouf's two seasons at Liverpool were filled with controversy, including one incident during which he spat at Celtic supporters in 2003.
Do you think the Senegalese is still bitter about his unsuccessful time at Liverpool? Have your say in the comments section below.
