International Champions Cup
Teams: AC Milan v Borussia Dortmund
Date: 18 July
Venue: Guangzhou’s University Town Sports Centre Stadium
AC Milan started only Ricardo Rodriguez, Franck Kessie and Fabio Borini of their 10 new signings in this window, while Dortmund featured almost their strongest line-up.
The Bundesliga team started the better of the two sides, with Moussa Dembele having a shot saved within the first two minutes.
Nuri Sahin put Dortmund in front after 16 minutes, although Milan goalkeeper Marco Storari should have done better with his shot from outside the box.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 2-0 from the penalty spot just four minutes later, slotting home the spot-kick after Pulisic was fouled.
Milan then scored out of nowhere, when Roman Weidenfeller inexplicably let Carlos Bacca's shot in.
Dortmund dominated most of the rest of the half without adding to the scoreline, which stayed 2-1 going into the half-time break.
The second half continued with Dortmund enjoying most of the ball without actually threatening too much.
Aubameyang added his second of the game after 62 minutes, finishing a superb counter-attack.
Mario Gotze was then introduced to make his first appearance since January this year.
The rest of the second half was disrupted by substitutions from both sides.
Luca Antonelli had the biggest chance to pull one back for Milan but his shot from close range was saved by second-half substitute keeper Dominic Reiman.
Milan had the better finish to the game, but Reiman came out on top in a one-on-one against Patrick Cutrone, before Emre Mor saw his thumping shot saved by Storari at the other end.
