Bayern Munich suffered their first defeat of the season, as they lost 2-0 to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening.
The Bavarians started well, with Mats Hummels unlucky in the third minute to see his header go over the bar from the centre of the box following a cross from Sabastian Rudy.
Three minutes later Robert Lewandowski hit the bar from inside the 18-yard box after receiving a through ball from Thomas Muller.
Julian Nagelsmann's charges were holding on as Carlo Ancelotti's boys were breaking through with attack after attack.
However, Hoffenheim grabbed the lead in the 27th minute with Mark Uth finding the back of the net from inside the left-side of the box following a quick counter-attack.
Muller could not find the reply in the 38th minute as his left-footed shot from inside the box missed agonisingly wide following a headed pass from Lewandowski.
Corentin Tolisso was unlucky to see his shot saved by Oliver Baumann from inside the 18-yard box a minute before half-time as Bayern were pressing for an equaliser.
The match went into the break with Carlo Ancelotti's charges trailing Julian Nagelsmann's troops by 1-0.
Uth made it 2-0 for the home side in the 50th minute with a left-footed shot from the centre of the box into bottom left corner following an assist from Steven Zuber.
Six minutes later Ancelotti subbed Sebastian Rudy, throwing in Arjen Robben as he was looking to change the complexion of the match.
Nagelsmann's charges were defending well around the 68th minute, containing the Bavarians from their attacks by frustrating them with tactical fouls.
Bayern came to life again in the 76th minute with Muller coming close with a header from inside the box after a cross from Jushua Kimmich.
Robben thought he had reduced the deficit in the 84th minute but his left-footed shot from inside the box was saved by Baumann.
In the end the Bavarians could not get into the score-sheet and have now missed the chance to move top of the table.
