Teams: Bayern Munich vs Chelsea
Date: 25 July
Venue: National Stadium in Singapore
Bayern started the better of the two sides, seemingly keen to make up for their 4-0 defeat to AC Milan, and went ahead after just six minutes. Right back Rafinha was set up by Franck Ribery before unleashing a rocket from 25 yards and opening the scoring.
Bayern made is 2-0 after 12 minutes when Ribery set up Thomas Muller, who volleyed the ball in at the far post.
It should have been 3-0 for the German giants and a hat-trick of assists for Ribery soon afterwards, but James Rodriguez shot over from close range.
Muller scored his second of the game, bending in a shot from outside the box after Chelsea found themselves stretched once again, to make it 3-0 to the Bavarians.
Chelsea ended the half stronger, but Marcos Alonso fired over before Tom Starke saved brilliantly to deny Michy Batshuayi.
Alonso pulled one back for Chelsea just before half-time, however, and the game went into the break with Bayern leading 3-1.
The second half, which was disrupted by changes from both teams, could not keep up with the quality of the first, but it was again Bayern who had the first chance, when Rodriguez's header flashed just wide.
James was again left frustrated when a brilliant last-ditch tackle from Gary Cahill blocked his shot.
Chelsea's new record signing Alvaro Morata then made his Chelsea debut, replacing Jeremie Boga after 62 minutes.
Courtois denied Rodriguez minutes later after Ribery set up the former Real Madrid man with a brilliant run past several Chelsea players.
Chelsea were denied by the post when David Luiz's deflected shot hit the upright 20 minutes before full-time. The Blues made it 3-2 when Batshuayi finished from close range after a corner, with five minutes left to play.
Bayern survived the final minutes without conceding another goal, winning their first International Champions Cup game as Morata experienced a relatively quiet debut.
