France Football, who handed out the FIFA Ballon d'Or prize in conjunction with FIFA between 2010 and 2015, split up with football's world governing body last year.

The French publication produced the Golden Ball award from 1956 to 2009, and reverted to their old format in 2016.

Ronaldo won the award last year – his fourth overall – and is expected to lift the trophy again.

France Football will release the 30 nominees (in no particular order) for this year's edition during the course of Monday, and revealed the first five names at 9:00 am, before adding the next five at 12:00 pm and another five at 2:00 pm.

The first 15 names revealed on Monday were:

Neymar (FC Barcelona/Paris Saint-Germain)

Luka Modric (Real Madrid)

Paulo Dybala (Juventus)

Marcelo (Real Madrid)

N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)

Luis Suarez (FC Barcelona)

Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid)

Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)

Dries Mertens (Napoli)

Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

David de Gea (Manchester United)

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

Edin Dzeko (AS Roma)
