FIFA Confederations Cup
Result: Germany 1-1 Chile
Date: 22 June 2017
Venue: Kazan Arena
Lars Stindl cancelled out Alexis Sanchez's early strike, as world champions Germany and Chile played out a 1-1 draw in their second FIFA Confederations Cup tie.
Alexis Sanchez returned to the line up and his impact was immediate. The Arsenal star profited from Shkodran Mustafi's poor pass, before firing a low effort past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to hand Chile the lead after five minutes.
Germany were finding it tough to contain the Chile attack in the early stages, while they struggled to maintain possession of the ball.
La Roja nearly doubled their lead in the 20th minute through Eduardo Vargas, but the striker's effort from the edge of the box rattled the crossbar with Ter Stegen well beaten.
The World Champions eventually leveled matters in the 41st minute when Lars Stindl grabbed his second of the tournament by turning home Jonas Hector's cross.
La Roja continued from where they left off in the first half, as the likes of Sanchez, Vidal and Vargas were causing havoc.
However, chances were hard to come by for both sides in the second half, which prompted Chile to introduce Paulo Diaz for Gary Medel.
Joachim Low's charges grew stronger as the second half continued, while Chile faded following their high-pressing approach in the first half.
Nevertheless, the score remained 1-1 at the full-time whistle, as both nations move to four points heading into the final group matches this weekend.
