Pirates Crowned Gauteng Future Champs Winners
Orlando Pirates Taking On Belgian Outfit In Youth Tournament
Orlando Pirates are the winners of the Gauteng Future Champs. The Buccaneers beat Mamelodi Sundowns on the weekend to be crowned winners of the youth competition.
Pirates are one of the five South African clubs that will participate in the 2017 Future Champions Gauteng International Tournament that is getting underway today.
Bucs will take on Belgian outfit Club Brugge at the Nike Centre in Soweto later today. Former Pirates midfielder, Philani Kubheka, is the coach of the club’s U17 team.
“In football you will always want to pit yourself with the best and the Future Champs competition allows us to do so. This is important because it will help us to measure ourselves as to where we are as a team and also serve as motivation for the players because one day some of these boys will be representing their respective nations and they’ll compete with one another,” Kubheka told Pirates' website.
Pirates are in Group D of the competition with University of Pretoria and Atletico Madrid.
