There have been many reports on where Orlando Pirates striker Benni McCarthy will be going after his contract expires at the double treble champions.
Some reports have suggested that he may be joining his childhood favourite side and Pirates’ rivals Kaizer Chiefs, while there are also reports about Mamelodi Sundowns or a move to Asia.
However the European Champions League winner with Porto FC of Portugal said that his heart is still with Pirates and he wants to retire at home in South Africa.
He told Soccer-Laduma that there was a chance of going somewhere two years ago before he joined Pirates but he had to consider being close to home.
"I know my contract is coming to an end in June and I want to stay here at Pirates. I want to be close to home and this is my home. When I left West Ham United I had the chance to go to Asia, Australia and United Arab Emirates, but I said why should I be going away from home? That's why I joined Pirates. Locally I don't think there is any need to leave Pirates. I am enjoying myself and the team is doing very well, then why leave? But hey who knows this is football. I don't want to say never then something happens and people will say but you said never. So for now I am happy where I am," the all time leading Bafana Bafana striker said.
