Moroka Swallows CEO Leon Prins has confirmed with the Siya crew that they have signed Edward Manqele from Mamelodi Sundowns on loan, with Katlego Mashego heading in the opposite direction.
Soccer-Laduma had earlier reported that a swap deal was on the cards, with the Brazilians keen to secure the transfer of Mashego.
Prins confirmed the Manqele has joined the club on a one-year loan deal, while Mashego was sold to Sundowns.
A source said that Sundowns had initally wanted Eleazar Rodgers to form part of the deal, but Swallows were more interested in bringing Manqele to the club on loan.
Coach Zeca Marques confirmed their interest to the Siya crew earlier today, saying, “Edward’s name had been mentioned during some meetings, but Leon Prins can shed more light on his situation.
“Edward is a very good striker and I think he can fit into our system. It would be nice if we could get him. As for Katlego, he is our top striker, but if he wants to go to a bigger club, I will let him go because age is no longer on his side, so he has to make the best of his career. I will be happy as well if he decides to stay."
