Khenyeza Has A Week To Appeal

Mabhudi Khenyeza has six more days to appeal the PSL’s decision to ban him for 12-months, having been found guilty of spitting and swearing at a match official.

The 31-year-old was rocked by the news on Wednesday, after it was revealed that he would have to sit out a full year as punishment for his actions in Ajax Cape Town’s defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns back in April.

However, all is not lost for the forward. The Siya crew contacted the PSL who confirmed that Khenyeza can still appeal the ban, but has to do so within seven working days of the Disciplinary Committee’s decision.

This means that the forward has until Friday, June 20, to file his appeal to the league and attempt to have the lengthy, somewhat harsh, ban rescinded or at least reduced.

Ajax had planned to offer Khenyeza a new two-year contract with the Urban Warriors after his heroics in their relegation survival, although it seems that they will wait on the results of any appeal before continuing contract talks.

Let's hope he succeeds in his appeal but the PSL should not be lenient even after the appeal. A hefty fine of atleast R50 000 and a 3 month suspension is appropriate for this kind of behaviour. It is totally unacceptable.

I feel sorry for this man. He i so unlucky. He is on the media for all the wrong reasons since he left Ajax for Sundowns. I wonder what went wrong as he is one of the best strikers in the PSL in this present era. Shame.

I wonder y does it has to be a harsh sentence in Africa, first it was Italy about bribery,bt de players&officials involved are stil in the game, den came Zimbabwe who banned their players&officials for life in football,of which FIFA overuled&gave suspendet sentence,Rooney did spit on a refrey bt he was fined a hevty money, now Mabhuti banned for a year without playing football,Dis is insane by the PSL DC,this guy should be punished from the pocket,Y does African impose hardest sentence, unlike in europe, asia&ada continent

Six Months or twelve games would fit his actions - anything less than that would be leniency on the player, though twelve months was a strong message to the would-be Referee abusers...come-on DC you can do better than that...
