The Zimbabwean failed to convert his spot kick in the dying moments of the game as Orlando Pirates’ Brighton Mhlongo got his feet to the ball to make sure that the spoils were shared between the sides.
Molangoane, who scored Chiefs’ goal in the encounter, says that they were disappointed not to win, but expects Katsande – who just signed a new long-term contract – to make up for his miss in the coming games.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website, “I am very happy, especially scoring in a game of this magnitude where everyone is watching… Obviously I would have wanted us to get the win, but we played well as a team and showed our fans how much we wanted to win this game.
“We are playing good football. Unfortunately we could not put the game away when we had the chance to, but we played well - that’s important for us going forward.”
Regarding his teammate, ‘Tight’ said, “He’s a top player and top players bounce back. It wouldn’t surprise me if he scores a few in his next few games. I thought he played well in the game, he was just unlucky with the penalty. It is one of those things, you need the character to step up. He’ll bounce back I’m sure, he has the character and strength to come through it and play well.”
Chiefs face Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup this weekend as they look to try and progress to the Round of 16 as well as maintain their title push.
