Chippa Still Waiting On Maazou

Chippa Still Waiting On Maazou

Moussa Maazou is yet to join Chippa United despite the club’s concerted effort to have the Niger international in their ranks.

The Chilli Boys have been waiting for Maazou’s arrival since the start of the season, with the Cape-based side claiming that they have already paid the transfer fee for the Niger captain.

Maazou was recently in South Africa for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and Chippa officials visited the player in Port Elizabeth during his stay. However, he has since returned home with the rest of the squad.

A well-placed source within the Chilli Boys camp told the Siya crew that Maazou was expected to start the second half of the season with the team.

“This Maazou issue is frustrating now. We booked him a ticket and arranged everything, expecting his arrival this past Saturday. He didn’t arrive. He is telling us about sorting out a few issues with the club he played for in Tunisia.

“Apparently, he is being owed money by that club. The whole thing is tiring. It’s not the first ticket that we have booked for the guy, wasting money in the process. We booked him a ticket to fly all the way from Niger. We are waiting for him.

“I suspect that something isn’t going well here. We paid the guy’s transfer fee long ago. The whole thing makes us look like clowns. It makes us look like we don’t know what we are doing,” said the source.

Maazou played for Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia. The player’s arrival in Cape Town has been delayed several times already, and it now appears that the club may finally give up on him.
