Former Wits defender Timothy Batabaire is set to sign for Vasco da Gama in the NFD. The Ugandan has struggled in his search for a new club in the PSL, and is now set to clinch a deal with the Cape-based outfit.

The player’s agent, Benjee Nkhatho, told the Siya crew that Vasco are keen to add Batabaire to their roster.

“We’ve got an offer on the table. They have already asked for the player’s clearance. We are finalising. I think the player is going to sign very soon,” said Nkhatho.

Batabaire recently attended trial with both Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu, and was close to signing with Usuthu before the club decided to sign Phumlani Mhamha and Willem Mwedihanga.

Vasco want to offer Batabaire a chance to revive his career, while also helping the side with his experience in their attempt to return to the PSL.
