Fans Chant Phiri’s Name After Brondby Victory
Lebogang Phiri Is Worshipped At Brondby In Denmark
Lebogang Phiri’s name rang around Brøndby Stadion last night after the South African put in another fine display for the Danish giants in a 3-2 victory.
The 22-year-old – who has missed just one league game so far this season – played 90 minutes for Brøndby as they beat Lyngby on the last day of the regular season, with a place in the Championship round already confirmed.
Having long since secured their spot in the top six, Phiri’s side will now look to try and claim victory in the final round of league games as they seek their first league title since 2004/05.
Despite his young years, Phiri is a household name in Denmark thanks to his impressive performances on the field, and is a legend at Brøndby having scored the goal that kept them in the top-flight a few years ago as a teenager.
Now, with the club challenging for the league title and into the quarter-finals of the Danish Cup, their fans showed their appreciation for the young midfielder as they chanted his name and cheered him on after he stayed behind following their victory.
Meanwhile, Phiri's contractual situation remains up in the air, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
