Big Sam: Refs Favour United At OT

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is infamously chummy with his Manchester United counterpart, Alex Ferguson.

But the longstanding friendship between the two managers counted for nothing last night, after the Hammers were eliminated from the FA Cup by United.

After the match, Allardyce bemoaned what he perceives to be the unfair treatment United receive from referees at Old Trafford.

Big Sam was especially peeved about the late penalty United were awarded for a handball by Jordan Spence.

Wayne Rooney ultimately fluffed the spot kick, but Allardyce was still angry that United defender Rafael had not been penalised for a similar incident earlier in the match.

And according to Allardyce, such incidents are common place at the Theatre of Dreams.

"You see it time and time again at Old Trafford," Allardyce said.

"There's no doubt about the difference between Rafael's handball and Jordan Spence's. Spence plays for West Ham and the away team, while Rafael plays for the home side at Old Trafford.

"With Rafael, the ball hits his hand but no penalty is given. With Jordan Spence, the ball hits his hand and it's a penalty. The incidents are the same. If you give one you've got to give both, simple as that."

"The ref did not see Rafael's handball because of his position," Allardyce added. "But he was in a worse position to see Jordan Spence's than Rafael's."

Keep on hating United maybe someday there will be a reward... If you lose against Utd then its a referee, do your job as I think is to make the team win and leave the referees to their association Big Sam

Maybe Oom Sam does'nt know, @Old Trafford it does'nt matter weather the angle is awkward, accute or watwat, its a matter of when the ref feels like giving it,so nxt time just honour the fixture & never mind the angle!ha ha bt @ least to tell the truth

That's the truth the ref since he ignored West Ham's penalt, he should have done the same, with Man U. At times the managers are blamed, for saying the truth.
