England striker Harry Kane has been recognised for his services to football by being awarded an MBE after a stellar 2018. Read more here.
Kane was presented with the MBE by Prince William at Buckingham Palace and is the second member of the England World Cup contingent to have been honoured by the Queen, with manager Gareth Southgate given an OBE for his efforts in coaching the national team.
The 25-year-old who was named as captain by Gareth Southgate led his team to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup as well as winning the tournament's Golden Boot.
Kane scored six goals at the tournament, netting a hat-trick against Panama, a brace against Tunisia, and a solitary goal in the last-16 victory over Colombia.
There were joyous celebrations across England as they overcame Sweden in the quarter-finals to and in the semis they took Croatia to extra-time, although they could not overcome their final four opponents. They eventually finished fourth after losing to Belgium in the third-place playoff.
