Mashaba Lashes Out At Mahlangu

Shakes Mashaba Upset With May Mahlangu

By soccer laduma - Nov 11, 2014 02:46 PM @MasebeQina

Bafana Bafana coach, Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba, has lashed out at May Mahlangu for complaining about fatigue when called upon to represent the national team.

Bafana's Medical Team Monitor Serero Strain

Mahlangu was named in Mashaba’s team that is preparing for crucial 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan and Nigeria respectively.

The talented overseas-based player has since been pulled out of the squad after he complained about tiredness, as reported in Soccer Laduma earlier today (Tuesday).

The South African Football Association confirmed that Mahlangu wrote a letter to Mashaba to alert him about fatigue “after playing too many matches.”

‘Tired’ Mahlangu Withdraws From Bafana

“This is not acceptable for a player to talk about fatigue when they have to represent their national team. It’s just that I no longer get angry these days, because I think I must also afford myself a smile. We will just follow this matter up and get to the bottom of it, I can only hope people will understand when these players are not called again in the national team.

"When I took up this position, I spoke a lot about patriotism which for me is paramount. If tomorrow the player is not considered and the media asks why, here is the reason.

One will ask, what about the players who have been sacrificing their time to be in the team? But then again the country has a lot of talent to get disappointed about one player. The only thing I want to see is when a player comes out clear and says I am not available, and we know what we have to do,” Mashaba said in a statement.

I wonder what the fuss is all about, if the player was tired then he should be excused. It was of no use to have him come here and perform below par because he was going to be lambasted for under performance. At least he had the guts to tell the coach the truth. Serero did it and was begged to come back to the squad, same as Benni and no such bad words were said about him. Am I sensing double standards here? Food for thought!

He is tired,, It's not like we will be playing in world cup final. Next time another player will get tired too,,players won't get tired at the same time,it's normal,,or else you will ban all of them.

Mashaba n SARA were too harsh on May Mahlangu , he was performing at club level since the start of the season but was only called now, fovouritism is a problem in SA n is killing the morale of hardworking players leading to take wrong decisions so this boy must be forgiven n get another chance like others

Coach I think you are slowly losing the bafana dressing room. As a father and old man I think you should have handled this differently. Your favoritism will cost you this job. Look what you did with mokotjo, calling up ndulula who have 2 goals in the league

What About those who are also sacrificing their time to be there,if he was tired he should have honoured the call ND looked on by the team doctor like what serero is doing,he should be banned for good cos he does not deserve to be there with that attitude

Yah neh!!! Today's South African overseas-based players neh... Local players get to play around 30 to 50 games and still get selected for National duty and go and represent Our Beloved South Africa. I'm a Kaizer Chiefs supporter, but I do recall Orlando Pirate players last season they even played Caf Champions league and a few season back when they won tremble for two year consectively and they're players were able to represent the country, but the Mahlangus find it hard???? Its amazing, very dissapointed in you BOY!!!

Let's respect the players wish and allow him time to rest,if that's really how he feels. We know your game plan will be affected Mr Mashaba but it won't be that bad.

Do not be afraid of calling 10 players from one team.Spain has done it, no one is going to blame you - you are in charge. If your plan about using Mahlangu somewhere is messed up get somebody either from the teams on form in the PSL.
