You Tell Sundowns’ Youth
04 February 2013
Monday means you get to tell PSL players or coaches exactly what you think of them! In the feature called “You Tell”, you have the opportunity to tell the star players, coaches or teams, who will be appearing in the new Soccer-Laduma on Wednesday, what you think of their recent performances or what you think of their season.
In fact, you can tell them whatever you like! All your comments will appear on the website and we will select comments that will also appear in your Soccer-Laduma newspaper this Wednesday.
Mamelodi Sundowns are known for splashing out big money to bring in the best talent money can buy. It has always seemed their youth academy system has been something of an afterthought – not many graduate to play in the first team from Downs’ youth ranks.
This mentality appears to be changing if some of the transformations and appointments in the youth department are to be believed. South African striking legend and highly-respected youth development coach, Noel Cousins, has been added to Downs’ youth development ranks as a part of this process.
In this week’s edition of Soccer-Laduma, Cousins explains some of the thinking behind the Brazilians’ highly ambitious youth development strategy.
Why don’t you tell Sundowns if you think they are on the right track in trying to produce their own top young talent? Is this the way forward for the club?
