Moroka Swallows claimed their first three points of 2012 after a thrilling 3-2 win over Santos at the Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Dube Birds started well with David Mathebula opening the scoring in the seventh minute. Lefa Tsutsulupa found the midfielder who lashed a shot into the top corner from just outside the area.
Santos responded well though and just eight minutes later they would draw level when Erwin Isaacs drilled a shot home from the edge of the area.
The game was fairly open with Mathebula firing a shot over the top before Isaacs forced Greg Etafia into a save in the 22nd minute.
The hosts began putting on the pressure with Nomvethe hitting a shot over before Wayne Arendse conceded a penalty after handling the ball in the area. Nomvethe stepped up and confidently stroke the ball home from the spot.
Nomvethe went close again in the 38th minute when he latched onto a corner from Bennett Chenene but Thembalethu Moses made the save.
Debutant Matthew Pattison was then denied at the other end by Etafia before Chenene added a third for the hosts. Nomvethe put a ball into the area and Chenene picked out the bottom corner from six yards out.
Chances continued to flow with Mathebula forcing a save from Moses nine minutes in before Lerato Chabangu flashed a shot wide.
Santos refused to give in and the persistence would pay off two minutes into stoppage time when Vuyisile Wana scored on the rebound but it was too little too late as Swallows claimed the spoils.
