Sundowns Promote Five Players

15 February 2012

Patrice Motsepe

In line with the team's policy of developing talent from their own academy, Mamelodi Sundowns has promoted five youngsters from their development to the main team.

Although not all of the youngster will play this season, the club's president Patrice Motsepe has promised that two of the players will make their debut before the end of the current campaign.

Motsepe attributed the promotion to senior team head coach Johan Neeskens, who he said believes in the youngsters.

"We are happy that the coach works with everyone at the team and helps in identifying young players who can be promoted. I know we have promoted five at the moment but I tell you know that two of them are ready to play even today.

"You will be seeing them in action before the end of the season. We are happy with what the academy is doing and this is just one example that we have talent in abundance in the country. We will continue to promote those players who are mature and deserve promotion," Motsepe said.

The promoted players are left winger Samuel Julies, midfielders Thabo Makgothi and Abel Ntuthuko Mabaso and defenders Xolani Mdaki and Mahlatsi Makudubela.
