Sundowns Outclass Santos
06 February 2011
ABSA Premiership
Date: 6 February 2011
Result: Mamelodi Sundowns 3 - 1 Santos
Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium
Sunday afternoon at the Lucas Moripe Stadium was the place to be, with Mamelodi Sundowns and Santos playing out to a three – one result with sparkling football. The sides lit up the PSL fixture with helter-skelter play and quality goals.
Sundowns had to put a challenging week behind them and Ian Gorowa guided his side to a well deserved and well play victory in his first match as caretaker coach.
The match started with aplomb as Santos goalkeeper Tshepo Motsonoeng had to make a superb double save, with first Mathew Pattison and then Nyasha Mushekwi directing shots at the Santos goal, within the first minute.
In the sixth minute Santos had their first chance, Erwin Isaacs curled a ball for the top corner of the Sundowns goal, from around 25 yards out. The shot had goal, written all over it, but somehow Wayne Sandilands managed to get crucial fingertips to the ball and deflect it around the post.
In the 16th minute Sundowns opened the scoring when Mushekwi climbed highest at a corner and directed his header beyond Motsonoeng, handing his side the early lead.
Four minutes later Mushekwi was at it again, running onto midfield maestro Pattison’s through ball and putting the ball between the outrushing Motsonoeng’s legs. The goal made it two nil to Sundowns and Santos looked to be on the verge of a hiding.
But the People’s team are made of stern stuff and they pulled a goal back just after the half-hour mark. After an earlier Isaacs effort went just over the bar, Vuyisile Wana crossed for Tony Tsabedze, who volleyed the ball past Sandilands. Tsabedze showed excellent technique as he chose to direct rather than blast his shot at goal. His goal, made it two-one and left the sides both playing slightly more cagy but still captivating football.
The second-half saw more excellent football but the keepers on both sides could not be beaten, though both sides created some decent half chances. Sundowns though still looked more dangerous and eventually in the third minute of stoppage time they scored their third goal.
Richard Henyekane was on hand to tap in Elias Pelembe’s square ball and the goal capped off and excellent match all round.
Mamelodi Sundowns: Wayne Sandilands, Matthew Booth, Method Mwanjali, Siyanda Xulu, Innocent Mdledle, Franklin Cale (Teko Modise 54), Matthew Pattison, Elias Pelembe, Esrom Nyandoro, Lebohang Mokoena (Richard Henyekane 85) and Nyasha Mushekwi (Mabhuti Khenyeza 73).

Eish mara botlaela , you can that the stupidity driven by hooliganism of these fans is quite intense indeed , when Sundowns enjoying to spot , Habbas was an excellent to them , they say they play like Barcelona, then they came up against Kaizer Chiefs , and they were torn into little pieces ,exposed , humiliated and trashed out 1-0 , then their grip to top spot started to show signs of weariness and cracking , after their draw to Platinum stars and their loss to Supersport United , they started calling the players the worse signings in the history, players like Booth were abused and chased away from training , and Habbas decided he has seen enough .

I go outside to have a drink with my Kaizer Chiefs and when I come back I found these dumb hooligans having fun with my name .Eish these Sunflobs hooligans will never learn really , all they know is post these amateurish comments of hooliganism without even getting time to wipe their esssses properly .If you know football properly and have played the game to its intensity , then you agree with me when I say Sundowns just a disorganised team , supporters by unruly hooligans who drove every coach away because they lack football knowledge in their small brains of bird. I mean look how childish and amateurish is their comments , every day Mr Editor is stressed out by these hooligans.

Mavenda, when and how did you bring Mushweki? even Musona first taste of S.A football was under Sundowns when he came for trials and he was deemed surplus to requirements, what are you smocking? Ah, why do i even bother to get sense out of you, you're a Kaizerbel FC Supporter afterall, making sense is not one of your strong point!
